A home for Tarsila do Amaral

This project was a finalist in the biggest interior design competition in Brazil, the Archathon, organized by Studio Archa. The brief was to design a home for the modernist artist Tarsila do Amaral, in Brasília. One of the main objectives of our proposal was to bring emotive elements and decorations that would be able to awaken affective memories.

The intention was that all environments could talk to each other while translating Tarsila’s personality. To bring greater functionality and comfort to the project, we chose to change the original layout. The idea was to create essential spaces so that the apartment could not only be her home but also her refuge and space for creation.
